Light bulbs database

Philips – cars sold in America

Download free SAMPLE:
Philips Light Bulbs Database .xls

Buy complete database:

Coverage: cars, trucks, bikes, snowmobiles sold in United States and Canada in 1946-2020.

Looking for European database? Please suggest websites from where I can scrap data and create a similar database! Other than am-application.osram.info where selecting each car do not make a distinct URL and light bulb types can be seen in a pop-up by clicking various parts of car = effectively impossible to scrap.

Sylvania – cars sold in America

Tired of lack of updates in Philips website, few customer suggested me scraping data from other websites and we choose www.sylvania-automotive.com. It was a headache to make a scraper for it, and following customer requirements (one column for each bulb type) it resulted in a database with 924 columns because light bulb labels vary a lot, there are many labels specific to one or few models only. I don’t know if is ideal format so your suggestions are welcome!

History

Philips automotive bulb finder database created in March 2017 (137 makes, 24379 models), for a customer who needed a vehicle database of light bulb types, he told me to scrap data from philipsautolighting.com, which took about 30 hours. Later I published database on website because other people were asking me for same thing.

Updated June 2017 (140 makes, 25682 models), after noticing that Philips added 2017 models.

Another customer asked me if I can scrap from xenonhids.com theoretically I can. As September 2018 neither Philips and XenonHids added 2018 models, but found another website that did added 2018 models: xenondepot.com.

Philips finally updated their website in October 2018, adding most 2018 models and only 13 2019 models, but as usual, it do not contain new cars as soon they are launched, but with a delay of few months. I also do not know how often Philips website will be updated in the future.

The website was also redesigned so I could not scrap it anymore with the standard “universal” scraper. I asked a programmer partner to make a custom scraper for it. Due to same reason, scraper ran much slower than before and took 150 hours to scrap all vehicles. Brands were reorganized, I got 133 brands and 37113 models, lights available (columns) also changed and now each light type can have multiple values.

In early 2019 Philips changed its domain name to https://www.automotivebulbfinder.com/philips/ but DID NOT updated their database as mid-2020, few customers suggested me scraping data from other websites and we choose www.sylvania-automotive.com in July 2020.

In October or November 2020 Philips website finally been updated with many 2019 and 2020 models, in January 2021 I asked programmer partner to update scraper to new domain name and after 7 days of continous scraping I posted new update on 30 January 2021.

Download file include both 2018 and 2021 updates, because I noticed that they deleted some makes and qualifiers, number of rows dropped to 33461.

    1. I refreshed page multiple times and been able to open website once, but then stopped working again, showing Error 1009. Not really enjoying scraping data from websites giving errors. And why I should scrap another website when I can update Philips?

Not sure why you didn’t saw this row
As October 2018, Philips has been updated with 2018 and 2019 models, but website was also redesigned preventing me to scrap it with the universal scraper. I asked a programmer to make a custom scraper for it. Update of my database coming soon!

  1. if anyone understand what is the problem with below customer and how I can make databases to find cars compatible with certain headlight, let me know!

    1. All light bulbs websites are lagging in updates, Philips are missing 2019 too (only 13 models for MY 2019 are included) so Sylvania is the BEST according previous customers, and I will scrap it again every few months to get new cars they may add, but if they don’t add new cars I can’t do anything.

In case I am wrong please tell me which is the most updated light bulbs website to see if I can make another database from it?

You told me via email to scrap https://www.xenonpro.com/ … is easy to scrap because every car is accessible via HTML links so I avoid hassle going through drop-down boxes… but I don’t see how data offered here is better. Select BMW 2018 is complete, select 2019 and 2020 and you see NO car models other than 2-Series and motorcycles. Same about other brands, in 2019 and 2020 they have only half or even less models compared with 2018 or earlier. They may have got a database going to 2018 from other source and struggle to manually add 2019 and 2020 models, and they added only models that came in their hands. Beside this, it only contain headlights.

  2. Hello.
I check many sites for car bulbs. But only Osram have a full list European cars. Maybe some changes in their web site and you can grab the information from it? I check the car Renault Kaptur, this car is made only in Europe. And no other sites don’t have it, except Osram.

  3. I was given the same task by our HR department: identify colleagues in various firms on Linkedin. Because there was no communication, I had to hunt straight for e-mail addresses to contact them, which I felt would be exceedingly difficult. Then I discovered a Chrome extension for email GetProspect plugin http://getprospect.com/linkedIn-email-finder-chrome-extension and I was able to rapidly find the email addresses I required without wasting much time or effort. I hope you find it useful as well.
