While analyzing data scraped from Edmunds, I decided to do several changes, correcting few obvious mistakes (example: AMG models and Yukon Denali) and improving model hierarchy to reduce number of so-called models with short production period, which are actually trims of a long-production model:
- BMW 1-Series M, M2, M3, M3 GTS, M4, M5, M6, X5 M, Z3 M, Z4 M models are listed on Edmunds as separate model than their series, I changed M to trim and put their original series in model column, this was necessary to simplify the things up because 2-Series have trims 230i, M240i, M2, and would have been stupid to have M2 separately.
- Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is listed as separate model in 2014, I moved Stingray to trim column as it is in 2015 and beyond.
- Ford Contour SVT is listed as separate model in 1998-2000, I moved SVT to trim column.
- Ford F-150 SVT Lightning is listed as separate model in 1993-1995, 1999-2000, I moved SVT Lightning to trim column.
- Ford Focus ST 2013-2018, Ford Focus RS 2016-2017, Ford Focus NISMO RS 2018 are listed at separate model, I moved ST and RS to trim column.
- Ford Mustang SVT Cobra is listed as separate model in 1993-1999, I moved SVT Cobra to trim column.
- GMT Acadia Limited is listed as separate model in 2017, I moved Limited to trim column.
- GMC Yukon Denali is listed as separate in 2000, I moved Denali to trim column as it is in 1999 and 2001-2018.
- INFINITI – this make is a BIG MESS in Edmunds, which listed letter+number in model column, leaving trim empty, until 2010, starting from 2011 it listed letter in model column and number that indicate engine size in trim column, until 2013 when INFINITI introduced new naming system letter+number that indicate model rather than engine.
- INFINITI EX35 2008-2010 renamed to EX as it is in 2011-2013.
- INFINITI FX35 2003-2010, FX45 2003-2008, FX50 2009-2010 renamed to FX as it is in 2011-2013.
- INFINITI G20 1991-2002, G35 2003-2008, G37 2008-2009, renamed to G.
- INFINITI G37 Convertible, G37 Coupe, G37 Sedan 2010 renamed to G Convertible / Coupe / Sedan as it is in 2011-2013.
- INFINITI I30 1996-2001, I35 2002-2004 renamed to I.
- INFINITI J30 1993-1997 renamed to J.
- INFINITI M30 1990-1992, M35 2006-2010, M37 2011, M45 2003-2004, 2006-2010, M56 2011 renamed to M as it is in 2012-2013.
- INFINITI Q45 1990-2006 renamed to Q.
- Jaguar XJR is listed as separate model in 1995-2000, I moved XJR to trim column as it is in 2001 and beyond.
- Jaguar XJ 2009-present I renamed to XJ-Series like in 1990-2008.
- Jaguar XKR is listed as separate model in 2000, I moved XKR to trim column as it is in 2001 and beyond.
- Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT is listed as separate model in 2015-2017, I moved SRT to trim column as it is in 2006-2014 and 2018.
- Land Rover Discovery Series II 2001-2002 I renamed to Discovery as it is in 1994-2000 and 2003-2004.
- Lexus – this make is a BIG MESS on Edmunds, which listed letter+number in model column, leaving trim column empty for most models, this caused a very long list of models, for example GS 300, GS 350, GS 400, GS 430, GS 450h, GS 460, GS F, etc. I put only GS in model column and the rest in trim column.
- Lincoln MKZ Hybrid is listed as separate model in 2011, I moved Hybrid to trim column as it is in 2012 and beyond.
- Mazda B-Series 2001 I renamed to B-Series Pickup as it is in 1990-2000.
- Mercedes 190-Class, 300-Class, 350-Class, 400-Class, 420-Class, 500-Class, 560-Class, 600-Class – Edmunds improvised a strange and incorrect model names for 1990-1993 cars. I renamed them to W124, W126, W140, W201, R129.
- Mercedes C36 AMG 1995-1997, C43 AMG 1998-2000 are listed as separate model, I renamed to C-Class because C36 and C43 AMG already exist in trim column.
- Mercedes E55 AMG is listed as separate model in 1999-2000, I moved E55 AMG to trim column as it is in 2001 and beyond.
- Mercedes ML55 AMG is listed as separate model in 2000, I moved ML55 AMG to trim column as it is in 2001 and beyond.
- Porsche Cayman S is listed as separate model in 2006, I moved S to trim column as it is in 2007 and beyond.
- RAM C/V Cargo Van 2012, C/V Tradesman 2013, CV Tradesman 2014-2015 I harmonized with C/V as model and Cargo Van / Tradesman as trim.
- Rolls-Royce Ghost Series II 2015-2017 I renamed to Ghost as it is in 2010-2014.
- Saturn L300 2004-2005 is listed as separate model, I changed to L-Series with trim L300 as it is in 2000-2003.
- Subaru WRX 2015-2018 I renamed to Subaru Impreza WRX as it is in 2013-2014, do note that in 2002-2012 WRX is a listed as trim under Impreza.
- Subaru Crosstrek 2016-2018 I renamed to Subaru XV Crosstrek as it is in 2013-2015.
- Volkswagen GTI 1990-1992, 1995-2014 I renamed to Golf GTI as it is in 2015 and beyond, respectively Rabbit GTI in 2006-2009.
- Volkswagen GLI 2008-2009, 2012 I renamed to Jetta GLI as it is in 2013-2014, note that until 2007 GLI was a trim of Jetta.
- Volkswagen R32 2004 I renamed to Golf R32 and Volkswagen R32 2008 I renamed to Rabbit R32.
- Volkswagen Touareg 2 2008-2009 I renamed to Touareg as it is in 2004-2007 and 2010 and beyond.
